Notice of R01 Grant Award for LHI Director Lin Yee Chen

Congratulations to Lillehei Heart Institute Director Dr. Lin Yee Chen on receiving the Notice of Award for Phase 2 of "Cognitive Impairment and Dementia, Vascular Brain Injury, and Atrial Myopathy: Implications for Prevention of Alzheimer's Disease-Related Dementias." Total funding for Phase 2 (2026–2028) exceeds $2.1 million. This work sits at the intersection of cardiac and brain health. It examines how atrial myopathy contributes to vascular brain injury and cognitive decline. If atrial myopathy proves to be an early and modifiable contributor to dementia risk, it would give clinicians a target that is measurable and treatable in cardiovascular care.
