Inflammatory bowel diseases, which include Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, often lead to significant pain, fatigue, repeated hospitalizations and major repercussions on the quality of life of those affected.
Despite therapeutic advances in recent years, several mechanisms at the origin of these diseases remain poorly understood. Research therefore remains essential to better understand their development, improve their management and develop new therapeutic options.
It is with this in mind that the Faculty of Medicine will create the Celltrion Research Professorship on inflammatory bowel diseases thanks to an exceptional donation from this biopharmaceutical company specializing in biological and biosimilar drugs.
Funded over five years, this initiative will support innovative research projects, the training of the next generation as well as the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. It will, among other things, support work in genomics, identify diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers, and improve the care offered to patients.
